The Books - Lost and Safe

Not much to say about this. It's been out for a few years, and it's easily one of my favourite albums from the decade. It has everything an album should have, good songwriting, good atmosphere, good flow. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Japandroids - Lullaby Death Jams

This is a lovely little EP from the Canadian band Japandroids. You could easily say that this EP is about five sevenths through the process of their evolution from the average "All Lies EP" to the wonderful "Post-Nothing". Highlight for me is Sexual Aerosol, but all the songs are enjoyable in a familiar Post-Nothing styled haze of vocal woos and crunchy guitar. For fans of No Age.

WHY? - Part-Time People Cage... or Part-Time Key?

This very early (1999) Yoni Wolf release is quite interesting. It has elements of his current work, but would probably be more easily compared with his work with cLOUDDEAD (I'm fairly certain there is some Odd Nosdam production on this). Worth a listen, even if only due to its strangeness.

I Just Wanted A Bite Of Your Cookie - Ev'rything

With a sinisterly low 17 listeners on last.fm, this mysterious lo-fi outing is as charming as it is strange. I found it on the late cllct a while ago, and with the death of that wonderful site, I thought it would be appropriate for me to upload it here so more people can hear it.

The Microphones - Don't Wake Me Up

Phil Elverum's first "proper" record so to speak, and one which I think to be, if not the best, at least one of the top few.

An amazing lo-fi garage rock album. You must listen.

Kría Brekkan - Wildering (7")

An amazing three song 7" by Kría Brekkan, ex-múm member and Mice Parade colaborator. These three enchating and ethereal lo-fi songs, or rather hymns are wonderful and beautiful, and definitely worth listening to.

cLOUDDEAD - The Peel Session EP (10")

This is one of at least two peel sessions done by cLOUDDEAD, this one being my favourite. It contains (in my opinion) a superior version of the song Grey, from their selftitled debut.

Me and You and Everyone We Know OST

Wonderful film, wonderful soundtrack. Courtesy of Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko) with a few appearances by some other folk. The music definitely is reminiscent of the Donnie Darko Soundtrack, but it has a much more original sound, being very synthesizer based. Go see the film.

Odd Nosdam - No Wig For Ohio

Odd Nosdam, moniker and anagram of David Madson, is the producer behind Clouddead. Unfortunately, and strangely enough, his solo work is fairly unknown. This LP was his fifth self release before joining anticon (who re-released it), and is a nice introduction to the artist, whose work could be described as hiphop meets shoegaze meets ambient meets noise. For fans of Boards of Canada and Why?
